John Cho was not very familiar with ­Providence a few months ago. As a South Korean entrepreneur in the healthcare sector, he never thought of Rhode Island as a hub for medical technology. So when he applied for a global program in South Korea and was partnered with the New England Medical Innovation Center in Providence, he was unsure what the state could offer him.

When NEMIC Project Manager Joey Gu and Program Director Maey Petrie started researching the idea of launching NEMIC Virtual Classroom, they discovered there was nothing else out there filling this need.

NEMIC Co-Founder and Managing Partner Lydia Shin Schroter has been racking up the air miles lately. She’s been crisscrossing the globe, introducing the New England Medical Innovation Center and all it can do for the Med Tech industry to an international audience.

The Med Tech Leadership Program curriculum was designed based on firsthand research and interviews with industry professionals, CEOs, venture capitalists, angel investors, and seasoned Med Tech entrepreneurs. The goal was to provide aspiring entrepreneurs and Med Tech professionals with the complete picture of how to bring a regulated medical device or digital health product to market.

Team NEMIC was overwhelmed with the response to this year's Softball; we received a record number of applications from Med Tech and Digital Health startups looking to be a part of the event. It was quite a challenge to narrow the pool down to the final lineup of pitchers.

After much deliberation and consideration, the cohort for the NEMIC Foundation's 2022-23 Activate Program has been selected! While applications were only open for a brief amount of time, we were overwhelmed with both the quantity and quality of startup applicants interested in participating in this accelerator.
