Co-Founder Lydia Shin Schroter Takes NEMIC's Mission Global
NEMIC Co-Founder and Managing Partner Lydia Shin Schroter has been racking up the air miles lately. She’s been crisscrossing the globe, introducing the New England Medical Innovation Center and all it can do for the Med Tech industry to an international audience.
World Korean Business Convention
In October, Schroter attended the 20th World Korean Business Convention in Ulsan, Korea, where she was invited to be a judge for a start-up pitch competition.
“This event attracts 2,000 business leaders from 40 countries around the world, so it was an amazing opportunity to share everything The NEMIC Foundation has to offer the global Med Tech community,” Schroter said. “By attracting an international audience, we hope to make Providence a worldwide center for MedTech innovation.”
Meeting with TIPS Participants
Navigating entry into the US market is hard. That’s where NEMIC can help.
During another recent trip to Korea, Schroter met with participants of the Tech Incubator Program for Startups (TIPS) who will be coming to the United States in January 2023 to take part in an accelerator program at NEMIC.
The TIPS program - which is run by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development - is designed to identify and nurture the most promising startups with innovative ideas and groundbreaking technologies. By leveraging global accelerator organizations, like NEMIC, TIPS aims to expedite international expansion and attract investment for accepted startups who wish to enter the global market.
To make sure the participants are able to hit the ground running, Schroter introduced them to the domestic program they will complete in Korea before joining us at NEMIC’s Providence headquarters in the new year. Once here, they will be matched with mentors from NEMIC's extensive network who have applicable expertise. The teams will take part in local market research, create local partnerships, and receive tailored incubation, promotion, and networking opportunities.
