The unique collaboration between NEMIC and Bryant University will combine the expertise of healthcare, education, and business innovators. Bryant’s experienced faculty, students, and international business professionals will team up with NEMIC clients, applying design thinking processes, strategic analysis, and market research to create customized market strategies for Med Tech companies. The partnership will assist NEMIC clients with the commercialization process in the field of healthcare devices and digital product design.

Dr. Hanumara’s focus on innovation in the medical device space and deep experience translating clinical needs to a technology and business case is extremely beneficial in supporting Med Tech innovators and entrepreneurs worldwide. Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Roberta Powell’s startup Quantitative 2 Qualitative Health (Q2Q) has been accepted into the 2019 MassChallengeRI cohort. The cohort, made up of 25 early-stage startups, was chosen from over 250 applications from 25 states and 39 countries around the world. Q2Q uses a customer facing application to convert health data into simple diagrams to empower its users to make better health decisions.

Digital Health, Design Health + Connections to Resources for Women Owned Businesses. The Women’ Health + Entrepreneurship Series was the perfect stage for two Providence based women to share the stories of how they are combating the rising maternal death rate worldwide. Did you know that the United States has the worst rate of maternal deaths in the developed world and the rate is continuing to grow? Last Wednesday, April 10th, maternal health experts Meg Wirth and Anne Geary Schmults took the stage at our monthly Women’s Health + Entrepreneurship Event event to share how their companies are providing innovative products and solutions to save mothers and baby’s lives all around the world.

PROVIDENCE, RI, April 9, 2019 – The Foundation for New England Medical Innovation Center (NEMIC) was recognized yesterday as a recipient of the “Real Jobs RI” Implementation Grant to cultivate and educate the future leaders of medical technologies and digital health.  NEMIC aims to provide leadership training to small businesses, scientists, researchers, and students in local universities through an all-inclusive MedTech training program with the goal to bridge the gap between workforce and economic development in a key Rhode Island economic segment.

Meet our April speakers Anne Geary Schmults, Director of Business Development at Alydia Health and Meg Wirth, Founder of Maternova. Both companies offer life changing and lifesaving technologies for childbirth and beyond. We wrapped up our day of showing West Coast investment group RedCrow around Providence, RISD, and Ximedica with an informal pitch presentation at our Innovation Center showcasing 7 NEMIC Community startups.

Last Wednesday, March 13th, we held the kick-off event to our Women’s Health + Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. The event was huge success and we want to thank each one of the 50+ attendees who were from all corners of Rhode Island, made their way down from Boston, and the few who tuned into our livestream.
