Providence, RI - June 29, 2020 – The New England Medical Innovation Center (NEMIC), New England’s Premier Med Tech Venture Studio who supports innovators to bring their medical ideas forward, announces the completion of their 9-month, 16 class, 8 workshop education program. The Med Tech Leadership Program, in partnership with Real Jobs Rhode Island, is a demand-driven workforce and economic development initiative designed to train the next generation of entrepreneurs, startup executives, and industry professionals in Rhode Island’s medical technology ecosystem.
Boston Globe: Slater Technology Fund says entrepreneurship is the key to Rhode Island’s recovery
The Slater Technology Fund is a not-for-profit venture capital fund dedicated to supporting early-stage technology ventures in Rhode Island. The current Slater Technology Fund was created in 2005, but its predecessor organizations go back to 1998. Today, the company is based at the CIC in Providence, in the Wexford Innovation Center at 225 Dyer St. It has been in Providence for some time, but the predecessors were located at universities and other research institutions.

Curveball Pitch Night
On May 28th, 2020, NEMIC held its first Curveball Pitch Night and first virtual pitch event with 3 startups pitching and 12 investors in attendance. Curveball at NEMIC is a play on and similar to their Softball Pitch Events.

This year, the New England Medical Innovation Center (NEMIC) partnered with the Rhode Island Business Competition to manage the Med Tech Track of the competition with the support of Rhode Island Commerce.
