The heart and soul of the 21st century economy is innovation. Rhode Island is now home to over a half dozen innovation centers. The Rhode Pod acts as the nexus for getting the word out locally and globally. This communication will help our innovation centers to find partners, investors, clients and customers, enabling the elevation of these innovators to sustainable businesses here in the Ocean State.

Hello April! Take a look back on the most recent #MedTechMonday podcast episodes published in March. We had 5 guests join us over 3 episodes to discuss topics like venture studios, medically focused product developers, and tips for researches and early-stage entrepreneurs who are translating their research into market ready medical products.

Since mid-March, NEMIC staff are working from home to curb the spread of COVID-19. So you will notice the audio quality of our most recent episodes is not the usual quality we strive to publish. With no access to our podcast studio, we wanted to still deliver our listeners weekly content and episodes. Our solution was to record remotely over the phone. Please take this information into consideration, as you listen to any episodes published during the quarantine.

Did you happen to miss an episode? You can explore the topics we covered in each episode for March below.

Ximedica, Joe Gordon, VP of Innovation

NEMIC was created because our Founders saw too many medical technologies getting stuck in the "Valley of Death." This was due to a many different reasons, usually on the business side, that marked the technology currently un-fundable. Ximedica, a Rhode Island based FDA registered product developer, would run into the same complications when potentially partnering with startups.

Topics Discussed

  • Meet Ximedica

  • What makes a good partnership with a product development firm

  • Product development firms registered with the FDA and what that means
