The goal was to provide aspiring entrepreneurs and Med Tech professionals with the complete picture of how to bring a regulated medical device or digital health product to market.
NEMIC on the News- Local 15-year-old with Raynaud's Disease unveils invention to battle disorder
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Anthony Wilds, a 15-year-old from Pawtucket, has created his own invention to alleviate his almost constant symptoms of Raynaud’s Disease.
Alongside the New England Medical Innovation Center, the sophomore at the Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center unveiled his product known as “HotBandz.” This product serves as a heated band wrapped around the forearm and promotes circulation in the extremities.

Part of what makes the American healthcare system so expensive is the reliance on a fee-for-service (FFS) model of healthcare provision. A doctor provides a service such as prescribing a drug, test, or procedure and then receives payment. Healthcare industry experts point at the FFS model as the reason behind the over-prescription of tests, procedures, and drugs.

NEMIC Fellow Lura Health Receives $256,000 NSF SBIR Phase I Grant Award
Congratulations to a NEMIC Fellow, Lura Health on being awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Phase I SBIR grant for $256,000. This grant will support the development of their current intra-oral salivary pH monitor and help them progress towards the ultimate vision of creating a comprehensive personal health management system, using saliva as a diagnostic medium.

The Med Tech Leadership Program, in partnership with Real Jobs Rhode Island, is a demand-driven workforce and economic development initiative designed to train the next generation of entrepreneurs, startup executives, and industry professionals in Rhode Island’s medical technology ecosystem.
