PROVIDENCE, RI, April 9, 2019 – The Foundation for New England Medical Innovation Center (NEMIC) was recognized yesterday as a recipient of the “Real Jobs RI” Implementation Grant to cultivate and educate the future leaders of medical technologies and digital health.  NEMIC aims to provide leadership training to small businesses, scientists, researchers, and students in local universities through an all-inclusive MedTech training program with the goal to bridge the gap between workforce and economic development in a key Rhode Island economic segment.

Meet our April speakers Anne Geary Schmults, Director of Business Development at Alydia Health and Meg Wirth, Founder of Maternova. Both companies offer life changing and lifesaving technologies for childbirth and beyond. Join us to learn the story behind how both women have grown their companies to make childbirth safer for all women.

We wrapped up our day of showing West Coast investment group RedCrow around Providence, RISD, and Ximedica with an informal pitch presentation at our Innovation Center showcasing 7 NEMIC Community startups.

Last Wednesday, March 13th, we held the kick-off event to our Women’s Health + Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. The event was huge success and we want to thank each one of the 50+ attendees who were from all corners of Rhode Island, made their way down from Boston, and the few who tuned into our livestream. We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout and this has made all of us at NEMIC excited for the rest of the series! We have a line up of great speakers and are working on curating next months event. The BVF program of the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the Slater Technology Fund supports new Brown graduates and young alumni who are building startups in Rhode Island. It provides a year of support to help young founders take their ventures from the campus where they were created into one of the region’s exciting new innovation ecosystems.

We are excited to announce that the New England Medical Innovation Center is expanding in 2019! We are adding 8 brand new private office spaces available for rent to our co-working community.

We can count on Bisnow to shine a light on great things happening in Rhode Island. Last year, the group’s “New England Presents” series included a panel called “Investing in Rhode Island.” This year, Bisnow hosted “Providence State of the Market,” which brought together an incredible mix of representatives from the public and private sectors for two panels that talked about many aspects of Rhode Island’s economic turnaround.
