As we celebrate a year’s worth of Startup Spotlights, we’d like to revisit the incredible innovations that we’ve covered, developing right here in Rhode Island’s rich and growing Life Science ecosystem. We are delighted to announce that NEMIC is now a mentor for Northeastern University’s Evolve Venture program. Evolve is a student-led venture accelerator enabling early-stage healthcare and life sciences ventures in Northeastern’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

New England Medical Innovation Center (NEMIC) has joined forces with edX, a leading global online learning platform from 2U, Inc., to make its cutting-edge MedTech education program accessible to an expanded worldwide audience.

NEMIC and the Australian delegation explored collaborative opportunities meant to drive the local economy, foster jobs within the industry, and drive advancements in the Health Technology sector.

The event highlighted the breadth and diversity of medical device and health technology companies located in Rhode Island. NEMIC was tasked with tapping into our deep network of industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors to assemble a compelling, comprehensive group for the event.

NEMIC joins a dynamic nationwide network of organizations aligned to ARPA-H’s overarching mission to improve health outcomes through the following research focus areas: health science futures, proactive health, scalable solutions, and resilient systems.

While we work to chart the course for years of sustainable future growth, it's also important to look back and reflect on all that we were able to accomplish during 2023. Together with our partners, we had our best year yet - working with hundreds of startups, entrepreneurs, and inventors. We engaged with more global companies than ever, setting the groundwork for bolstering Rhode Island as a Center of Excellence in Health Technologies.

This latest and much-anticipated strategic partnership aims to amplify our combined strengths to enrich the health innovation ecosystem in Rhode Island with the shared goal of expanding beyond local and regional borders.
