NEMIC Begins Expert Hours with MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund Program
This month, the team here at NEMIC conducted our inaugural Expert Hours, with MIT’s Sandbox Innovation Fund Program. MIT Sandbox is a targeted program that provides seed funding, mentorship, and tailored entrepreneurship education to student innovators to empower them to explore ideas, take risks, and prepare to launch. The goal of the program is to enable any MIT student who is inspired to solve a problem with an innovative solution to learn and experience entrepreneurship.
One of the key components of the Sandbox Program is the monthly-scheduled Expert Hours, in which ongoing office hours are facilitated to offer advisory on a broad range of startup-related topics. Experts volunteer to meet one-on-one with Sandbox teams to answer questions, strategize solutions, and help them continue to make progress. Teams receive a weekly listing of upcoming office hours and can sign-up for individual meetings.
Earlier this year, NEMIC was added on as an Expert Advisor, and on Tuesday, August 1 we began our scheduled monthly Expert Hours. For our first session, we covered a wide range of topics spanning everything from general NEMIC programming, to Human Factors + User Needs advice, to in-depth regulatory pathways for entrepreneurs’ designs. The ability to reach students with a one-on-one approach so closely aligns with NEMIC’s mission of accelerating the development of technologies that improve patient outcomes + wellness.
We look forward to what the future holds within the partnership between NEMIC and MIT Sandbox. With our shared values, we hope to positively impact the futures of students, entrepreneurs, MedTech as a whole, and healthcare worldwide.
