Townsend Goddard, SVP & Global Head Executive of Industry Strategic OLYMPUS joins NEMIC Board

As NEMIC continues our regional and global expansion, we are excited to grow our Board of Directors with the addition of Townsend Goddard of OLYMPUS.  The insights and experience of a leader from a key industry strategic bolsters Rhode Island’s aspirations of growing the Life Sciences ecosystem, and attracting new ventures and future talent.

Townsend Goddard currently is the SVP and Head of Business Development at OLYMPUS, a Japan-based leading global MedTech company publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

There, he leads a global team that is responsible for Corporate Ventures, Mergers & Acquisitions, Alliance Management, and Post-Merger Integration. Prior to OLYMPUS, he held other key leadership roles at major industry strategics Covidien and Stryker. Goddard is a Newport native with proud ties to Rhode Island’s community with previous work for the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (now Rhode Island Commerce), and the Rhode Island Senate.

With the addition of Goddard to our Board, NEMIC will drive our strategic plan which echoes the goals and mission of each initiative we pursue, namely to enhance healthcare experiences. Our future zeroes in on three primary goals: establishing Rhode Island as a MedTech and HealthTech center of excellence, diversifying income and revenue streams, and supporting innovation from the grassroots level to advanced technologies. Ultimately the goal is to improve the patient outcomes and experience within our communities locally, regionally and globally.
