NEMIC Welcomes Dr. Jenny Hoffmann as New Executive Director, Ushering in a New Era of HealthTech Innovation
Providence, R.I. | September 2, 2025 — The New England Medical Innovation Center (NEMIC) proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Jenny Hoffmann as its new Executive Director, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the nonprofit organization that has become a catalyst for medical technology and healthcare innovation across the region.
A bioengineer by education, and an entrepreneur and innovator by trade, Dr. Hoffmann brings a rare blend of industry expertise, startup experience, and visionary thinking to NEMIC’s mission of supporting early-stage medtech and healthtech companies. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to advancing technologies that improve patient outcomes and transforming the way care is delivered.
“Jenny really gets it. She has the entrepreneurial drive and the ecosystem know-how that founders need,” said Maey Petrie, outgoing Executive Director at NEMIC. “She understands the hurdles innovators face, from regulation to fundraising, and she knows how to help them move forward. I’m genuinely excited to see where she takes NEMIC, and I couldn’t be happier to hand things over to her.”
Dr. Hoffmann is a proven healthcare leader recognized for driving innovation, accelerating growth, and delivering meaningful patient impact. As CEO of a maternal-fetal monitoring startup, she advanced novel solutions to improve outcomes for mothers and newborns. She has also led multiple medical device businesses at WL Gore & Associates, bringing life-changing medical technologies to patients worldwide. Jenny now serves as a fractional executive, helping medtech and biotech startups translate breakthrough technologies into real-world patient outcomes. She is also the co-founder of HA Biosciences, a company developing novel solutions in gastrointestinal health, and holds a PhD in Bioengineering from Rice University and BS from the University of Virginia.
Her unique perspective forged at the intersection of health sciences and entrepreneurship positions her to drive NEMIC’s programs forward and deepen its impact on the innovation ecosystem. “I’m thrilled to lead NEMIC into its next chapter,” said Dr. Hoffmann. “This is a pivotal moment in healthcare where breakthroughs in medtech, digital health, and life sciences are transforming what’s possible for patients and providers.
