Global Leader Ernst & Young Becomes NEMIC’s 12th Corporate Member

Providence, RI  - Esteemed industry leader and globally-renowned firm EY (previously, Ernst & Young) has officially joined NEMIC’s Corporate Membership cohort, as its 12th corporate member.  With EY’s purpose of Building a Better World, this latest addition to the Corporate Membership program demonstrates a shared vision to improve quality of life for all through collaboration and innovation.

With the oldest dating back to 1849, EY was founded as a result of several mergers of ancestor firms over the last century and a half.  Well known as one of the “Big Four” accounting firms (along with Deloitte, KPMG and PwC), EY is a multinational professional services network based in London, United Kingdom.  The firm maintains a belief that a better working world is one where economic growth is sustainable and inclusive, working continuously to improve the quality, invest in people, and promote innovation. EY also takes pride in working for and with others – from our clients to wider stakeholders – to use knowledge, skills and experience to help fulfill their purpose and create positive change.

At the local level here in New England, EY has a well-established presence across a variety of sectors, including Life Science.  The NEMIC Corporate Membership program allows EY access to local companies working in the HealthTech space to improve outcomes in our community and beyond.  This provides EY with an opportunity to stay connected with early-stage startups, while likewise offering entrepreneurs the ability to benefit from the expertise and industry knowledge EY has to share.

“Being an entrepreneur can be complicated,” said Andrew Williamson, NEMIC’s Business & Engagement Coordinator and head of their Corporate Membership initiative, “Having access to Corporations that provide decades of deep subject matter expertise can help simplify an otherwise daunting journey.  And the support of a prestigious organization like EY really speaks to their commitment to NEMIC’s work and mission.  “

From the perspective of the Rhode Island ecosystem, EY’s presence represents a big moment in the ongoing growth of the State’s greater Life Science network.  It is well established that the State aims to encourage collaboration and innovation among public, private, and academic institutions, and is on a mission to become a thriving, collaborative destination for innovation.  In this private sector, this will require the participation of companies and corporations alike coming together in creative ways to meet the needs of nascent technologies.  NEMIC’s Corporate Membership initiative aims to provide one opportunity to promote just that: intersectional and interdisciplinary collaboration.  Together, stakeholders will continue to shape the future with confidence and develop solutions for today’s most pressing issues now, and beyond.
